Most people can relate to the feelings of anticipation, anxiety, and general buildup that come right before jumping into a cold pool. There’s all this chatter in your head- how cold is it? How deep is it? Then the silence comes. They take a deep breath… and jump in.
The initial shock of the water can be a bit overwhelming. It’s similar to the feeling I got when I started blogging about myself. You’re so unsure of your surroundings and what might happen next.
Here’s the difference though. I like those feelings. I choose to jump into that freezing water almost every day. I know that as soon as I jump in, my workout begins. It’s my time to be an athlete. Some call me crazy for what I do, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I think that being a swimmer has made me a stronger person- one who can just take a deep breath and get something done.
